On The Mend Shoe and Bag Repairs is a vibrant shoe and bag repair shop in Fitzroy. With over 15 years of experience under our belt, we cater to all of your shoe and bag repair needs. We know our stuff and aren’t shy in sharing our knowledge with you.


We resole, re-heel, mend tears, stitch, replace zips, add zips, re-button, re-buckle, attach new elastics, add straps, re-dye, clean, polish, stretch, resize boot calves, and a whole lot more!


We can add/change straps, change hardware (buckles, magnets, metal rings, clips etc), replace zips, re-dye leather and fix loops. Our service is not exclusive to leather handbags. We fix backpacks, duffle bags, sports bags, camera cases, beauty cases, briefcases, suitcases, etc.


We also offer key cutting services for the majority of domestic keys at very reasonable rate.


We carry a large selection of shoe and leather care products, including well respected brands such as Collonil, Waproo, and Tacco. We are happy to introduce the exclusive Bondi Laces to our list of items we have available for our discerning customers.


We are also collaborating with a professional knife sharpener in order to provide a wider range of services for our customers. B&S Sharpening visits our shop every other Wednesday for sharpening services for all household, professional and gardening blades (including knives, scissors, tools and shears, etc.) Enquire within.

In September of 1999, Anna had broken her leg and the work she was doing in hospitality came to a grinding halt. At the same exact time, she was contacted by RMIT, to let her know that a spot had opened up for her to attend their shoe-making course. Still on crutches, Anna started the course. Although she loved creating shoes, something was pulling her toward figuring out how to actually repair damage to footwear/leather bags. While taking the course and being on crutches, she kept asking herself,
